The cleanliness of the mosque is an important factor that needs to be maintained at all times. The dense activity in the mosque as a place for public broadcasts also carries the risk of spreading disease. Even though the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided, maintaining cleanliness in places where people have the potential to gather is still being carried out.
Deep reviewed Law No. 36 of 2009 Regarding Health it is said that the implementation of environmental health is an effort to realize a quality healthy environment, both physically, chemically, biologically and socially so that everyone can achieve the highest degree of health.
One of the biggest mosques in Banyuwangi viz Baiturrahman Grand Mosque has the principle of cleanliness in which the mosque must be clean to maintain the sanctity of the worshipers who come to worship.
Wednesday, (15/03/2023) Students Airlangga University SIKIA Public Health Study Program test the feasibility and cleanliness by doing environmental quality sanitation test at the Baiturrahman Banyuwangi mosque. Testing and research was carried out by field analysis and interview methods with mosque cleaners.
Cleanliness management in terms of cleaning buildings, domes, and sanitation in the mosque. Overall the mosque's cleanliness management is quite good. When an analysis was carried out, it was immediately apparent that several mosque administrators were cleaning up several sanitation facilities.
Waste management is also categorized as good. Garbage is collected every day by the cleaners, so that there is no accumulation of garbage which results in an unpleasant odor in the mosque area.
There are several things that need attention for cleanliness such as the ceiling or fan above. You can see the roof and fan are a bit dusty. The efforts of the mosque administrators are to schedule cleaning times. This is because the position is high enough that it cannot be cleaned every day.
This survey is very useful for providing evaluations to the cleaning staff of the mosque, so that it can realize the improvement of the mosque area to make it more comfortable in worship.
"This environmental quality analysis survey at the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a medium for students to learn and apply the knowledge they have acquired. Especially in analyzing environmental health in places of worship which are always crowded with worshipers to worship." said Ardhya Farisha, a SIKIA Public Health student during a survey.
