Medicine & Medical Professional Education
The Medical Study Program and Medical Professional Education Study Program under the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Natural Sciences (FIKKIA) UNAIR in Banyuwangi have advantages in the field Travel Medicine. Travel Medicine is a field of medicine that includes the management of peripheral health problems before, during and after travel for travelers (domestic and international travelers). This peripurna management includes the management of health problems, at five levels (health promotion, specific protection, early diagnosis & prompt treatment, disability limitations, & rehabilitation) related to the traveler's journey.
The vision of the study program is to produce independent, innovative, leading doctors at national and international levels, pioneers in the development of medical science and technology, entrepreneurship and humanities, excelling in the field of Travel Medicine, based on religious morals.
- Organizing and developing global competency-based medical academic education, to produce graduates who are superior and have an entrepreneurial spirit, who uphold morals, religion and ethics.
- Improving the quality and quantity of basic, applied research and health policies that are innovative and recognized nationally and internationally to support education, community service and service, especially in the field of Travel Medicine.
- Providing expertise in the fields of science, medical technology with a humanitarian and entrepreneurial spirit to a society with a national and international health perspective.
- Develop institutions that are quality-oriented and able to compete at the international level.

The growth of tourism activities in Banyuwangi increases population mobility and international travel which has an impact on global health challenges. The emergence of disease and the spread of communicable and non-communicable diseases brings challenges for FIKKIA UNAIR to produce competent health workers Travel Medicine:
- able to identify health risks and problems in the traveler population, in order to understand the spread of disease and its treatment;
- able to design preventive measures (5 level of prevention: health promotion, specific protection, early diagnosis & prompt treatment, disability limitations, & rehabilitation) health problems during travel and tourism activities (pre, durante, post);
- able to carry out trauma and emergency management, including sports injuries, stabilization in transportation, and referral systems;
- able to provide counseling and education related to travel and tourist activities such as airworthiness assessments (fit to fly assessment), travel insurance, repatriation information, personal protection, and medical services in the travel destination area.
- internalize the principles of medical ethics and professional attitudes in the context of patient confidentiality and the integrity of the medical profession.
